For this, you need to have an account on Amazon. Also, you should have a power source and a reliable WiFi connection. Look at the below steps to set up Alexa on your device:

Step 1: The first step is to download the Alexa app. You can easily download the Alexa app from the Google Play Store or Apple App store. If you have already installed the Alexa app on your device then ensure that you have installed the latest available version.

Step 2: After that, sign in to your Amazon account. If you do have an account then create a new account. Enter the email address or phone number. Also, enter the password. In case, you do not have an Amazon account then click on Create a New Amazon Account. Follow on-screen instructions to complete it.

Step 3: In case, you already have an Amazon account and you have purchased your device from Amazon then you will get your device pre-configured. If you will see a pop-up message when you plug in your device then click on the continue button. After that, you just need to connect your device with a WiFi network. 

Step 4: Thereafter, select your name from the displayed list of the users. In case, you do not see your name then click on, “I am someone else” option. After that, you have to register yourself as a new user.

Step 5: In the next step, plug your Alexa into the electrical outlet.

Step 6: Choose More under the Alexa app. You will get this option in the bottom-right corner of your screen.

Step 7: Hit on the “Add a device” option.

Step 8: Click on Amazon Echo. After that, the app will display you all the device that works with Alexa. If you want to set up Alexa on various smart speakers then scroll down and choose the Speaker. 

Step 9: Choose Echo, Echo Plus, Echo Dot, and more. You will get this option under the Echo smart speakers. 

Step 10: Next, you need to confirm the light ring on your Echo device whether it is glowing orange or not. The app will ask you to plug in your Echo device and click on the setup mode. 

Note: In case, your Echo device turns purple instead of orange then you need to press and hold the button having the dot icon until the orange light ring starts glowing. 

Step 11: Choose your device name.

Step 12: In the next step, you need to choose your wireless network. Also, enter the password for your chosen wireless network. Click on the Continue button to proceed further.

Note: If you are facing issues in connecting your Alexa device to the wireless network then you need to ensure that your router is working well. Also, make sure to set up your Echo speaker within 30 feet from your wireless home router. 

Step 13: Select the room in which you want to place your Alexa device. Click on the continue button to go further.

Step 14: At last, enter your email address. It will allow your Alexa device to personalize the results for traffic, weather, and many more. Enter the new address to fill in your details or you can select the address from the list that displays on the screen.
