How Do I Reset Echo Dot?

Method 1: Deregister Echo Dot
If you are getting frustrated with the Echo Dot then one of the things that you can do to fix the problems with it is deregister the Echo Dot from the Alexa account. Deregistration of the Echo Dot will remove the app from the Alexa account. Follow the below steps to deregister the Echo Dot:
  • Open the Alexa app.
  • After that, go to the settings.
  • Thereafter, go to the device settings.
  • Next, tap on the specific Echo dot which you want to deregister.
  • At last, tap on Deregister. 
Alternative Way to Deregister Echo Dot 
If you are unable to access the Alexa app from your device then you can also deregister the Echo Dot from your computer. Here are the steps for it:
  • Open a web browser and enter amazon.com in the URL bar. 
  • In case, you have not signed into your Amazon account then you firstly need to sign in.
  • After that, tap on the Accounts and links.
  • Click on the Digital content and devices and next to Manage content and devices. 
  • Next, you need to hit on Devices. 
  • Thereafter, you will see the Amazon devices gallery which are registered to you currently. 
  • Tap on the Echo Dot which you want to reset. 
  • Tap on Deregister. Here, you will also get an option to erase the audio recording from your device.
Method 2: Through Reset Button
Another method to reset Echo Dot is by using the reset button. Look at the below steps to reset 1st and 2nd generation Amazon Echo Dot. 
For 1st Generation Echo Dot
  • The first step is to search for the reset button.
  • Once you find the reset button, press the button by using the needle or paper clip at the bottom of your device for 10-15 seconds. 
  • Release the button when orange LED light blinks on it.
  • After that, you will see that the light ring turns blue. 
  • Now, you have to wait for some time until the light right turns off and orange lights blinks again.
  • Finally, the Echo Dot is reset successfully to the factory default settings. 
For 2nd Generation Echo Dot
  • Firstly, press and hold the microphone and Volume down button simultaneously until you will see that the light ring turns orange. 
  • After that, the light ring will turn to blue color.
  • Now, you have to wait for some time until the light ring turns off and blinks again to orange color.
  • Now, your Echo Dot is reset successfully to the factory default settings.
